Water From The Rock

What is this message all about? It is about God's ability to work out fresh experiences out of hard situations—His ability to make something out of nothing, bring a way where there is no way, beat down the strong, and make the weak rise above.

Water represents life, freshness, and strength. The rock represents hardness, resistance, defiance, and situations appearing overwhelmingly strong. While Scripture reveals Jesus as the unbreakable Rock of Ages, in this context, the rock represents difficult, defying conditions. The power of God is made manifest in these strong situations so that everyone who sees it knows this is the hand of God.

Ordinarily, a strong man is expected to win, and a weak man is expected to stay behind. The poor line is expected to continue in poverty. But when the weak suddenly rises above the strong, or the poor suddenly becomes rich, a divine transaction has taken place. God does not consult your past to determine your future. You must lose sight of where you are coming from and look unto the throne of grace.

As written in Numbers 20:8, God instructed Moses: "Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water..." Ordinarily, a rock does not produce water, but God commands life out of the impossible. No matter the hardness of your situation, the bias of a medical report, or the complications around you, there is a God in heaven who makes a way through the wilderness. Man may disappoint, but God cannot.

When we gather, the spiritual rubs off into the physical, bringing shifts and alignment. To see water come out of your rock, there are four key things you must do:

1. Speak: You must speak to the rock. As 2 Corinthians 4:13 says, "We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak." The first sign that you believe is that you start speaking over your situations, challenges, and daily life.
2. Don't Complain: Isaiah 28:16 and Philippians 4:6 remind us to bring our requests through prayer and thanksgiving rather than worry. Complaining is a sign of defeat. A spiritual man speaks over a matter, decrees, and sits back to watch the Spirit work.
3. Decree: Job 22:28-29 shows the authority in decreeing a thing. Take the Word of God, master it, and declare it boldly over every situation.
4. Become Spiritual: 1 Corinthians 2:15 states, "But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man." When you grow spiritually, the Holy Spirit continually directs you on what steps to take.

Start looking up to God, for your destiny is in His hands. Refuse to be distracted or diverted. Water can come out of any rock, and God is able to bring a beautiful, tangible testimony out of your life.
